Definition of problem :
|
| |
The producer of the television channel travels abroad on business but has to carry on his work of screening upcoming broadcasts remotely.
The installation of a video (streaming) server on Internet is the solution. Two variations of this solution have been proposed. |
|
Proposed solutions : |
| |
1. A low-cost solution with a cheap acquisition card. |
| |
Advantage : |
| |
- The acquisition card does not require major investment. |
| |
Disadvantages : |
| |
- It is impossible to broadcast a stream directly. In fact, an additional preliminary step must be performed to extract the video stream and put it on a file which will then be broadcast.
- The machine dedicated to broadcasting must be relatively powerful.
|
|
| |
2. A solution integrating an acquisition hardware device of professional standard dedicated to the streaming video. |
| |
Advantage : |
| |
- The stream can be broadcast directly from the video source (beta numeric, beta SP, DV video-recorder) and continuously, without human intervention. |
| |
Disadvantage : |
| |
- acquisition card has a higher cost, of the order of three times that of a cheap card. |
|
Solution adopted : |
| |
Insofar
as direct broadcasting represented a real time saving for the company,
the second solution was adopted.
